For my first posting I want to examine a subject I am very fond of: laptop bags. I like simple and functional bags that still have subtle coolness to them. Here are a few of the recent bags I have been keeping an eye on. Most of these bags are not cheap but I believe in investing in certain things that will last and serve their purpose for a long time.

First up is the Beez LE13 MacBook Laptop bag

Be-ez recently announced the LE13, a minimalist designed bag suitable for the MacBook. The LE13 is part of the new LEvertigo range from Be-ez.

The Beez LeVertigo styled much like a messenger but with a vertical orientation making for a close to the body fit. You might want to try this type of bag if you have problems carrying your gear in a more common horizontal orientation. It might be easier on your bag if you are carrying a heavy load (or it may make it worse so try something similar first).

Lots of organization and pockets in this bag. Laptop and documents are separate, it’s designed with a padded computer sleeve inside and high quality waterproof nylon layer outside. The bag can accommodate notebooks with sizes up to 15.4″. This bag looks like a perfect compliment to either the white or black MacBook. The LE13 will be available from the beginning of July, a list of retailers . About $70US.

Second we have the Brooklyn Industries Vertigo Bag which is possibly my favorite at the moment.

I think if I could I would buy a new gear bag every month. If that were the case then I think the vertigo from Brooklyn Industries would be my next purchase. Actually since it is only $36.00 it just might be. An oversized satchel cum laptop sleeve messenger bag which at this size is perfect for throwing over your shoulder for a quick run to a clients office. Just don’t throw too hard as the padding can’t be that solid. Features 1680D Ballistic Nylon Fabric with waterproof coating, YKK coil zippers, seatbelt webbing, and holds laptops up to about the 14″ range. Seems perfect for an iBook and all your gadgets. $36.00US at the Brooklyn Industries.

And finally there is this clean (if little limited in capacity) bag. All The King’s Men Laptop Bag

Stuffed in: Laptop Bags Messenger Bags Bags No idea how much protection is afforded by this cool looking bag – assume none and buy a good sleeve – but there is no doubting the fact that this is a unique take on the tired laptop messenger. “What makes this bag unique is the shoulder strap, which is a genuine aeroplane seatbelt with a stregth indicator of 2500. Each bag has a unique seatbelt tag and hand stamped number imprinted on the front. All The King’s Men bags are made in Melbourne, Australia so you can be assured of a totally funky and well built bag.” I love the colors and next to leather this is one of the nicest wearing materials I have seen. Even with rips and tears they get better with age. AUD $209.00 at rushfaster.
